Obituary

Wilma H. Long, 88, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 26, 2026. She attended Alcoa High School, where Sonny and she were Mr. and Miss Alcoa High 1955. She was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church in Alcoa where she served faithfully as a teacher. She truly loved her Sunday School Class and Senior Group. Wilma worked for the Bank of Maryville until she left to care for her precious grandchildren. She loved attending all of their sporting events.

Wilma is preceded in death by her husband Verlan (Sonny) Long, parents, William and Helen Reagan Householder, brother Billy Householder, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gaynelle Long and George Ross, and daughter, Pam Carter. She is survived by sister-in-law Elizabeth Householder, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce Long and Jack Porter of Conyers, GA., son-in-law David Carter of Alcoa, daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Tom Stinnett of Friendsville, son and daughter-in-law Andy and Patricia Long of Knoxville. Grandchildren Joshua Carter, Candace Hunt (Matthew), Alyson Flynn (Zach), Taylor Stinnett (Rachel), Reagan Mead (Zach), and Drew Ann Long. Great-grandchildren Audrey Hunt, Jack Hunt, Lily Flynn, Elizabeth Flynn, Conley Mead, Klein Mead, and Cora Jean Stinnett, several nieces and nephews. Family and close friends will gather for the burial Friday, January 30th at 3:00 at Grandview Cemetery. The Celebration of Life will follow at 4:30 at Central Baptist Church Alcoa TN.  Donations may be made in memory of Wilma to Central Baptist Church, Alcoa, TN.
