Walter Henderson, age 80, of Vonore peacefully passed away at Morning View, Friday, July 3, 2026. Walter’s nickname was Pug. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company. Pug also volunteered for many years for the Greenback Rescue Squad. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and step-father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Etta (Payne) Henderson; wife, Cora Ann Henderson; and sister, Patricia Deakin.

Survived by his niece, Melissa Deakin; nephew, Michael and Michelle Deakin; stepchildren, Gene Queener, Sandy Queener, Kenny Queener and Susie (Queener) Blair; and several grandchildren, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. Tyson McKeehan and Rev. Kenny Queener officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Oakland (Trigonia) UMC Cemetery with Rev. Tracy Patterson officiating and honors to be rendered by the Greenback Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
