Tony Lee Houston was born on April 21 ^st of 1947 and passed away at his home on April 30 ^th after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Tony was a naturally gifted athlete from a very young age. While our father worked on the NYC subway system, Tony made a name for himself at a young age in all youth sports in Teaneck, NJ. When the family moved back home to Maryville, Tony, now an 8 ^th grader, continued to stand out as a natural athlete, setting records in track as well as being a standout in football, baseball, and basketball. He went on to receive a football scholarship at ETSU. For his athletic accomplishments, Tony was inducted into and was a very proud member of the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame. Tony loved all sports, fast cars, and playing golf while he was physically able to do so. Tony found his calling as far as his work life. He was a car hauler and hauled cars from the Atlanta GM plant to every corner of America. If you knew Tony you knew he liked talking to folks and other truckers on the CB radio as he traveled across the country as "The Cisco Kid"! Tony loved going to auctions later in life and truly never met a stranger! He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his mother Leona (Orr) Houston and his father Robert L. Houston, Jr. Tony is survived by his loving wife Sandy of 47 years, Brothers Don and Mike Houston, niece Katelyn Houston of Knoxville and nephew Matt Houston of Texas as well as many extended family members. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 4 ^th at 7:00 PM  in Maryville at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel with the Reverend Mike Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM prior to the service. The family will meet at 11:00 AM at Grandview Cemetery for a private graveside service.
