Thomas Larry Hughes Sr., age 79, of Maryville passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023.  He loved God and knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He took care of his wife for 11 years until she passed 3 years ago.  His heart was one of the most loving, caring, and compassionate of any there ever was.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Hughes; parents, Fidel and Sallie Hughes; daughter, Linda Hughes; grandson, Nathan Shepherd; brothers, Bill and Arnold; sisters, Ruby Chambers and Faye Helton; half-sister, Ruth Lawson.

Larry is survived by his son, Larry Jr. (Roma) Hughes; daughters, Lisa (Randall) Hawn, and Tracy (Scott) Webb; grandchildren, Shelby (Adam), Shaina (Josh), Rachel (Andrew), Abby Hughes, Alan Shepherd, Katelen Shepherd (Michael), Jordan Sparks, Briana Webb, Daphne, Sandy, and John John; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kaylee, and Nathen Huskey, Landon Ticel, Jackson Cruze, Zaylen, Isaiah, Mia Letti, Anna, Henry, and Blaize; special friends, Donnie and Dena Young; sister, Mary Lou (Don) Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.  A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice service, especially Lindsey, Monika, and Larry.  Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Chilhowee Primitive Baptist Church "Red Top" Cemetery, Rev. Ronald Whitehead officiating.  Arrangements are with Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
