Obituary

Ruth L. Potter Harrison, 91, of Maryville, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, November 15th. She graduated Friendsville high school in Blount County and received her diploma from Knoxville business college in 1951. She was employed by Lockheed Martin in Marietta Georgia and then in the 1960s she owned and operated The Maryville Motel in Blount County, Tennessee. In the 1980s she helped, her husband, Paul as an accountant and business manager at the Harrison Hill auto dealership. Ruth and Paul enjoyed many adventures in their travels both overseas and all 50 states. Her favorite hobbies were playing board and card games. In 1979 Ruth and her sister in law, Bonnie Harrison were the Blount County, ROOK champions, and went on to win the Tennessee State Rook tournament. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Harrison; mother and father; Jo and Clifford Potter; and two brothers, William Thomas and Clifford Daniel Potter. She is survived and loved eternally by her three sons, Tim (Vicky), Mike (Jolanta), Brad (Leigh Anne); and her ten grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Stephanie-Jo, Hayse, Mackenzie, Maryruth, Mikayla, Anne, Jon, and Sara; her sisters-in-law, Clara Crisp, Becky (Mack) Whitehead, Bonnie Harrison and Ann Potter. Family and friends will meet at 1:00pm Tuesday, Nov. 21 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Chapel for internment with her nephew Brian Crisp officiating. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
