Raymond Earl McMahan, 92, of Maryville left this world to join his Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 12, 2022. He is now reunited with his beautiful bride, Lula who passed away in March 2022. Earl was a longtime deacon and member of Centenary Baptist Church and later Maple Grove Baptist Church. He served his country as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1961. After returning home to Blount County, he married Lula in 1956 and worked at Tennessee Farmer's Co-Op for 39 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.
Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lula; parents, Clyde and Clennie McMahan; brothers, Kenneth, Gene, Jack and Ronnie; and sister, Evelyn Walker.
Survived by his son, Mark McMahan and wife, Sheila of Walland; grandson, Dakota McMahan and wife, Caitlin of Walland; sisters, June Nelson and Midge Hembree of Georgia; brothers-in-law, Paul Purkey and wife, Belinda of Gray, TN and Vernon Gumm of Maryville; and many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to all the staff of Morning View Assisted Living. Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a graveside service, Rev. Bill Wilson officiating. The family requests no flowers.
