Phyllis “Mamaw” Hodge, 86, of Maryville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, at her home on September 18, 2026.

Phyllis was the heart of her family—a beloved mother, Mamaw, and friend. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with those she loved. Anyone who knew her knew her love for sports, especially the VOLS, the Atlanta Braves, and the Dallas Cowboys. From tailgates for the VOLS to local highschool stadiums to watch her boy play, we always knew we could count on her to be in the stands cheering them on.

Phyllis leaves behind her daughter, Cindy Hannah; stepdaughter, Donna Ann Gibson and husband, Don; grandchildren, Meghan Adams and husband, Luke, and Donnie Ray Gibson; great-grandchildren, Drew Lyttle, Abbi Adams, McKenzie Gibson, and Mason Gibson; and her best friend, Naomi Johnson and husband, Charlie.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Hodge; sister, Joyce Tallent; brother, Edward Sands; and parents, Harold and Ina Sands.

She will be missed more than words can say, but we know she’ll be watching over all of us—and probably still keeping up with her VOLS.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Traci, her nurse with Gentiva Hospice, for the care, kindness, and compassion she showed Phyllis and her family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. at Miller’s Funeral Home, 915 W. Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37801. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
