With humble acceptance of God's will, the daughters of Paul R. Hatcher announce the passing of their beloved father on April 6, 2026, in Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 83. Affectionately known as "Preacher", he leaves behind a legacy cherished by his family and friends.

He was born on November 17, 1942, in Maryville, Tennessee to the late Lijah Elbridge Hatcher and Lillian Inez Steele. Paul proudly served in the United States Army from July 12, 1961, to September 11, 1964, serving in the Infantry Division during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged for his dedicated service to his country.

Following a long and proud career behind the wheel, Paul retired from Averitt Express after 29 years. Known as a true professional on the road, he achieved the impressive milestone of four million accident-free miles before retiring.

Paul cherished his quiet time reading the Bible and watching Fox News. He was passionate about NASCAR and enjoyed riding through the scenic mountains of East Tennessee. Known for an honest heart and generous spirit, Paul was the embodiment of a Good Samaritan. His compassion extended to supporting others through regular contributions to St. Jude's, the March of Dimes, and St. Joseph's Indian School.

Paul was a proud member of the Masonic fraternity and served as Master Mason. He was a devoted member of Nelson Chapel Church of Christ, where he began attending at the age of six and remained a faithful member throughout his life. Paul never missed a reason to laugh, have fun or crack a joke. With a mischievous spark, he left behind a trail of laughter and fond memories.

While Paul was a devoted father to his daughters, his heart was large enough to hold an unwavering love for his brothers and sisters. He cherished his family above all, often speaking of the rare and perfect harmony they shared throughout their lives.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his brothers, Ralph Lindsay Hatcher, Owen Levi Hatcher, and Bruce Butler Hatcher; and his sister, Agnes Elizabeth West, (née Hatcher); and his late wives, Edith Carol Hatcher (née Thrasher) and Rita Alice Hatcher (née McNeil).

He is survived by his daughters Monica (Hatcher) Russell (Mark), Heather Lynn Philip, Carol (Hatcher) Baker and Laurie (Hatcher) McPeak; five grandchildren, Christopher Steele Stacey, Caroline Eleanor Stacey, Isaac Philip McPeak, Anna Grace Baker, Hope Lynsey McPeak and Lillian Faith Baker; and sister, Martha Sue Hearon (née Hatcher).

Visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 915 W Broadway Avenue, followed by a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Graveside service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Williamson Chapel Cemetery.
