Norma Phyllis Potter Kidd, passed away on September 6, 2026. Norma was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, Nana, nurse, and friend. Most importantly, she was a child of God, now residing in her Heavenly home. Norma dedicated her life to caring for others, even after officially leaving the nursing profession. She also had a lifelong love of music and sang in several church choirs over the years. She was a 1958 graduate of Everett High School and a member of Fairview Church. Norma’s personal ministry of faith came in the form of cooking and baking for others and sending cards to friends and loved ones. Most always, those cards would be accompanied by a recent photo of her beloved granddaughter, Mackenzie. Her legacy of compassion, faith, and selfless love will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Carrie Potter; infant sister, Lois Marie Potter; son, Matthew P. Kidd; and loving husband of 64 years, Frank M. Kidd. Though deeply missed, Norma’s love and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her daughter, Amy (Mike) Kirkland of Maryville and adored granddaughter, Mackenzie Kirkland.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to UT Hospice Services and Norma’s nurses, Julia and Kasie, for their care of Norma in her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Norma’s memory to the Carpenter’s Cemetery Fund, Attn: Sandra Boruff at 4217 Mint Rd. Maryville, TN 37803 or “Fairview Music Ministry” at Fairview Church, 2508 Old Niles Ferry Rd. Maryville, TN 37803.
Memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Monday, September 14, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Carpenters Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
