Obituary

Norma Jean Garner, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 3, 2024.  She was a lifelong resident of Blount County.  She was a very beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. More than anything, she enjoyed making home-cooked meals for her family and having everyone gather around the dinner table. She loved to play cards and have family game nights.  If she wasn't cooking in the kitchen, you could find her planting and tending to her garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fate and Georgia Byrd; beloved husband of 66 years, Francis Garner; and several beloved brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Tracey) Garner and Scott Garner; granddaughter, Chelsey (Roger) Williams; great-granddaughter, Ruthie Grace Williams; sisters, Verla (George) Waggoner and Dorothy Van Dyke; several nieces and nephews; very special nieces and caregivers, Patsy Meyer and Missy Hatcher.

A special thanks to caregivers, Sandy Patton, Debbie Moore and Debra Hatcher.  Also, a special thanks to hospice nurse Amy Ellis.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Centenary Baptist Church Cemetery, Rev. Roger Williams officiating.  Also, everyone please sign the register book as you leave.  Arrangements are with Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
