Myrtle Almeda Baker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
A native of Blount County, Tennessee, Almeda spent most of her life in La Vergne, Tennessee, before recently making her home in Taft, Tennessee. She devoted her life to her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
Almeda was preceded in death by her parents, Press and Pauline Huffstetler; and her brothers, Henry Huffstetler, Lowell Huffstetler, and Howard Huffstetler.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Bobby Ray Baker, Sr.; her children, Ray (Beth) Baker, Diane (Tommy) Webb, Susan (Kevin) Jewell, and Sheila (Richard) Panther; her grandchildren, Wade (Andrea) Baker, Jesse (Kenzie) Baker, Megan (Mike) Lee, Becca (Andrew) Wilson, Nicci (Trevor) Hasty, Jennifer Maroney (Joshua Moring), Preston Maroney, and Chris Maroney (Casey Welsandt); her great-grandchildren, Linley Baker, Jolene Lee, Millie Lee, Lucy Wilson, Teagan Hasty, Blakelyn Hasty, Bailey Disney, Layla Disney, Curtis Disney, Emerald Welsandt, and Jay David Maroney; her brother, Carroll (Tootsie) Huffstetler; and her sister, Doris (Skip) Merriman, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Almeda's legacy is one of love, devotion, and family. The values she instilled and the memories she created will continue to live on through the generations who were blessed to know and love her.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Eastern on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home. Interment will be held following the service at Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Maryville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.
