Dale Stephens

Dale Stephens of Maryville, was called home to eternal rest on July 31, 2026 at the family home. He joins his beloved wife of 65 years Wanda, who passed away on June 21, 2026.

Their love story did not end, it simply continued in heaven.

Dale was a loving Husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. Dale was the owner of Dale’s Barber Shop in Midland Plaza for over 30+ years until he retired. He was a member of Middlesettlements Methodist church.

Dale was more than just a barber-he was a trusted friend to all that sat in his chair. His shop was a place of laughter, conversation, many jokes and long lasting connections. His customers spanned over many generations. He loved his customers, and they loved him right back, not only for his skill, but for the stories he shared and the genuine interest he took in their lives.

Dale had a gift for bringing people together. He cherished his friendships and had a special love for the game of golf. He was happiest out on the golf course, spending time with his golfing buddies, sharing laughs, stories, and friendly competition. Whether it was a quick round, or a golfing trip, those moments meant the world to him. He never missed an opportunity to talk, laugh, and share memories.

Above all, Dale loved his family. They were his greatest pride. His devotion, care, and steady presence will be deeply missed, but forever remembered. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched-with every conversation, every laugh, and every act of kindness. He will be remembered for his big heart, his storytelling, and the way he made everyone feel like they mattered.

He has gone home, reunited with those he loved who went before him. His wife Wanda, whom he desperately missed since her recent passing. His mother, Grace Stephens, his father, Charles “Kermit” Stephens, and his brother, Charles “Charlie” Stephens.

Dale will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving family. Daughter and son in law, Neal and Paula Stephens Buckingham of Maryville, Daughter, Kim Stephens. Grandchildren, Tyler Buckingham (Mariah Allard), Justin Buckingham , Connor Stephens and Cole Stephens, Great grandchildren, Abel and Carson Buckingham, and Xavier Allard. Sister in law Carleen Stephens of Knoxville, Brother Don Stephens (Donna) of Missouri, Sister Sherry Stephens Boring of Georgia, Sister Sharon Stephens Powell (Gary) of Virginia. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and endless friends.

Dale was especially grateful to his devoted caregiver, and loving son by marriage, Neal Buckingham who was his closest companion. Dale was blessed to have wonderful nurses, Melissa and Dianne, who brought joy to him with each visit. He loved them as much as they loved him. The family is forever grateful to the hospice nurses for their compassionate care and love that they showed to both Dale and Wanda, and the family as well.

The family would also like to thank Miller’s Funeral Home for the care they showed our family during such a difficult time. From the moment we walked in the door, they treated our family and our loved one with the utmost dignity, respect, and compassion. They weren’t simply doing a job, they truly cared about our loved one and our family.
