Kenneth "Gumbo" Smith, age 78 of Maryville, beloved husband of Alma Sue Smith, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Saturday, December 3, 2022.   Born October 20, 1944, the son of the late Emerson and Marie Smith; son in law to the late Jake and Alma McGhee of Greenback, TN.  Gumbo and Sue married on June 12, 1964, he was a member of Alcoa Central Baptist Church.  Preceded in death by his brothers Paul Smith and Albert (Joyce) Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Alma Sue Smith, sons, David (Karen) Smith, Dennis (Julie) Smith; grandchildren, Baylee (Micah) Pressley, Madison Smith (Haden Townsend), Makenzie (Josh) Williams; great grandchild, Rhett Williams; sister, Mary Martha (George) Roddy; special nephews Paul "Buster" (Teresa) Smith and Jeff (Kathy) Smith.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Gumbo Smith to Oakland Trigonia Cemetery Association at mailing address 812 Trigonia Road, Maryville, TN  37801.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Oakland United Methodist Church cemetery.  Rev. Jim Haggard and Rev.
