Kenneth Walter
Irwin
May 2, 1944 — Oct 11, 2023
Maryville
Kenneth W. Irwin, 79, of Maryville, passed away peacefully, at home, overnight with his loving wife at his side, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 30 years, Donna Irwin; daughters: Kenna Hess (Carlos Jr) and Kelly Bryant (Harold); bonus children: Travis Loope (Robin) and Brandi Pemberton (David); grandchildren: Libby Hess (Daniel), Brody Hess, Tyler Dockery, Kenny Bryant, Timothy Bryant (Katie), Alley Loope, Mackenzie Richards (Josh), Madren Pemberton, Presley Pemberton; great-grandchildren: Rylan Barrios Hess, Aubree Dockery, Jemma Bryant, Micah Richards, Abby Richards, Jameson Richards; siblings: Leona Dodson Hargis, Von Irwin (Sandra), Janice Ivens (Kevin); as well as other family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter Irwin and Lola Irwin Russell; sisters: Bobbie Smitherman and Charlotte Vogel.
Kenneth was born and raised in Maryville (MHS Class of 1962). He retired from BellSouth, where he worked as an installer and lineman for 40 years. He was known for his unmatched work ethic and dedication. When he wasn't working in his big bucket truck, Kenneth was also a skilled carpenter and drafter who built impeccably constructed houses, including his own home of 50+ years.
In the years since his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, going to lunch with his phone company buddies, and watching western movies and birds in his backyard with his wife, Donna. Kenneth loved riding through the mountains, fishing–and listening to fishing tales, and could always be counted on to be at football practices, games, and any event of his grandchildren.
Whether known as Kenneth, KW–the phone man, Papaw, or K, he will be remembered for his compassion, willingness to help others, fierce conviction for doing what's right, and–most of all– his loving heart.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Miller's Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside service at 2 PM on Thursday, October 19th at Williamson Chapel.
