John A Tyler, born January 9, 1935, passed away peacefully at his home on June 28, 2024.  He retired from Greenback Co-op and maintained the cemetery at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Big Gully for more than 25 years until his illness earlier this year.  John was an avid fisherman and hunter.  John was also known for his skill at small engine repair.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane (Fields) Tyler and son, Randy Tyler of Maryville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Tyler of Piedmont, South Carolina, Peggy (Randy) Brewer, Febia Fields, and Rose Fields of Maryville; special nephew, Rick Hill; special great-nieces, Haylee and Courtney Newell; and great-nephew, Austin Newell.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Winnie Tyler; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Billie and Lee Fields; 6 siblings and 9 siblings-in-law.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, July 1, 2024, at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Eric Frank and Rev. Tommy Self officiating.  Interment will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
