James Edward Poplin, age 81, of Maryville passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 at home.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Edna Poplin; infant daughter, Christina.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Heath Poplin; children, Christopher and wife, Naomi, Poplin and Melissa Poplin; sister, Mildred Cagle; and his friend since childhood, Howard Kerr.   A special thanks to everyone with UT Hospice for their kindness throughout this journey.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Rev. Scott Cagle officiating.
