James "Charles" Jones, age 78, passed away peacefully On February 26, 2025, with family beside him. Charles served in the Navy during the Vietnam war on the USS Alcor (AK 259). After an honorable discharge, he went to work for South Central Bell from which he retired. Charles served as a deacon for many years at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Alcoa. He loved fishing and spending lots of time with many grandchildren. "Great Daddy" will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Charles is proceeded in death by biological parents James and Sallie Hall, adopted parents William and Lula Jones, sisters Hazel Mae, Johnny Bell and  Mabel.

Survived by his loving wife of sixty years Joyce Bettis Jones, children Tanya Smith (Joey), Lyle Jones, Becky Poff (Jerry) and Jason Jones, grandchildren Zane, Jessie, Mica, Brandon (Holly), Victoria (Jesse), Jerry (Jessica), Pacey, Jerica, Jonathon, Caleb, Josh, Jessica, Cierra, Ricky, Jay. 31 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 4, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Magnolia Chapel with funeral service at 7:00 PM, Rev. Jonathan Brooks officiating. A 2:00 PM graveside will be held on March 6, 2025, at East Tennessee Vetrans Cemetery, Rev. David Anderson officating.  Arrangements made by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
