James Vernon Clouse, of Rockford, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the age of 76.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 30 years, Donna Kay Clouse, whom he loved with his whole heart, and by his parents, Harley and Ruby Clouse.

He is survived by his daughters and son, Lisa Pickel, Brian Pickel; his grandchildren, Kayla McCollom and her husband Eric and Tyler James Duncan; and his great-grandchildren, Evan, Connor and Owen McCollom. He is also survived by his siblings, Teresa (Wayne) Mouser and Gerald (Marilyn) Clouse, along with nephews Todd Clouse and Jason Mouser, and niece Melody Pryor.

Vernon was proud of his entire family, and we loved him more than words can say. None of us could have achieved what we have without the love and support he gave us all, never wavering — not for one single day.

Vernon loved to be outside. He loved putting out his garden every year and never turned away anyone who wanted to come take something from it. He took such pride in caring for his property on the lake.

Vernon worked and retired from Rockford Manufacturing after nearly 50 years. We couldn't even begin to list all of the people our dad called friends throughout his life – friends that he made so many years ago and remained close to until this very day.

Vernon also leaves behind special friends for life, Bob Chase and Lee Jackson.

If he loved you, he loved you for life and made sure that you knew it.

We're going to miss him so much. This world is a sadder place without him.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 31st at Clarks Grove Cemetery. Arrangements made by Miller Funeral home 915 W. Broadway Maryville TN 37801.
