Betty Faye (75) and James Floyd (Chipper) Ramsey (78), of Greenback, TN, departed this world unexpectedly on March 31, 2024, at their cherished home, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will forever endure. They were high school sweethearts and were married for almost 58 years. They are survived by their son Allen (Tiffany), their beloved grandchildren Taylor Brooke Ramsey (Evan Wise), Sr. Airman Allen "Creed" Ramsey USAF, Averi Maddox Ramsey (Dalyn), and great-granddaughter Stevie Brooks Wise, all of Knoxville.

Betty and Chipper devoted countless hours to encouraging and supporting Al and their grandchildren in their various activities. Whether it was pageants, cheerleading, golf tournaments, BBQ cooking, soccer, basketball, or football games, they could often be found in the audience or stands, proudly cheering on Al, Taylor, Creed, and Averi as their most enthusiastic fans. Their unwavering support served as a constant source of inspiration and motivation for their loved ones, embodying the true essence of family bonds and love.

Chipper, affectionately known as Chip, was a man of remarkable wit and boundless charm. His infectious laughter and vibrant spirit touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A devoted enthusiast of Tennessee Volunteer Athletics and Greenback Football, Chip's unwavering loyalty and sportsmanship were evident to all who shared his passion for the game. Chip found solace and joy in tending to his garden, a skill passed down from his parents, and experiencing the beauty of the mountains. Instead of diving into the chaos of Black Friday shopping, he preferred to hit the trails with his group of friends, affectionately called the "sickos," reveling in the outdoor adventures they shared.

Chip's dedication transcended sports as he committed his career to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), which led him across the Southeastern United States. Concluding his professional journey in Washington D.C. at the USDA's home office, Chip imparted his wealth of knowledge and experience nationwide. Throughout his career, Chip cultivated relationships that mentored and equipped the next generation of public servants. He took great pride in his friendships and colleagues, sharing van rides and his trademark one-liners, whether fitting for the occasion or not, with those who appreciated his wit.

Chip was preceded in death by his parents, Vina Sylvania and Creed Allen Ramsey. He is survived by his sister Patricia Ramsey Self of Greenback, nephew Tim Self (Elizabeth McKnight) and children Ramsey and Creed of Anderson, SC, niece Tiffany Self Morgan (Shane) and children Annalee, Branson, and Sturgill of Greenback.

Betty, fondly referred to as Miss Betty or Betty Boop, possessed a heart overflowing with compassion and generosity. Her warm embrace and delicious meals welcomed all who crossed her threshold, leaving them feeling cherished and valued. Betty found joy in tending to their garden, preparing for the season's canning to preserve the freshest of foods. When Betty wasn't at home, she could often be found donning a hardhat, eagerly contributing to construction projects, showcasing her determination and skill. She also had a passion for crappie fishing in West Tennessee, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of the water with good friends. Additionally, all who knew Betty, know how she was always ready to lend a hand wherever needed, eagerly assisting with projects and endeavors, spreading her kindness and support wherever she went, thus touching the lives of many with her tender care and unwavering love.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Cline and Margie Swain, and sister Rita Huskey. She is survived by her brother-in-law John "two-dollar" Huskey of Maryville, nephew Bret (Haley) and children Alex and Harrison of Alcoa, and niece Lauren Huskey of Maryville.

Betty and Chip treasured family gatherings, beach vacations, and cookouts, fostering a home filled with love and hospitality. They embraced extended family and friends worldwide, recognizing the immense value they brought to their lives. Their bonds were cherished and celebrated, enriching their nearly 58 years together.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, at RIO Revolution Church in Maryville, TN (3419 E Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37804). People will begin to gather at 1pm, with services starting promptly at 2pm. Friends and family will come together to honor and remember Betty and Chip's remarkable lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Betty and Chip's memory to their High School Alma Mater, Greenback School (6945 Morganton Rd, Greenback, TN 37742), a testament to their enduring commitment to education and community.

The Ramsey family is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and love they have received during this challenging time. Betty and Chip's legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know them.
