On Sunday October 27, 2024, Reverand Jack Easter went to rest in the arms of Jesus.
He was born May 20, 1940, to Frank and Helen Easter in Rockwood, TN. He attended Friendsville High School and Maryville College where he obtained his teaching degree and completed various Bible courses. He married Frances Holloway on December 22, 1961. They were married 53.5 years until her death in 2015.
Jack was called to preach September 30, 1962, and served as a bi-vocational pastor for many years. He served at Old Chilhowee Baptist, Gilead Baptist, Cornerstone Baptist, Hillcrest Baptist and Meadowbrook Baptist. He led many revivals with his father Rev. Frank Easter, traveling throughout Tennessee and surrounding states. He loved gospel music, playing the guitar and leading many congregations in old-time hymns.
He taught in the Blount County School System for 30 years in elementary schools, including special education classes. He also coached basketball and football and loved cheering on the University of Tennessee sports, especially football, basketball, and baseball. He served as a manager at group homes ministering to adults with special needs. He only fully retired at 74 years of age to care for his wife Frances as she battled lung cancer.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is proceeded in death by his brothers Richard Easter and Rick Easter and Chico his longtime pet dog.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law James and Cindy Easter, his sister and brother-in-law Pam and Larry Hodge, and grandchildren Lucy Frances Easter and James Kristopher Easter, Jr. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Receiving of friends will be held at Madison Avenue Baptist Church on Friday November 1st from 5:00-7:00 with the service to follow with Dr. Greg Heisler officiating. The graveside service will be at Zion's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville, TN, Saturday November 2nd at 1:00.
Donations can be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association, the Blount Co. Animal shelter, the Humane Society, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home 915 W. Broadway Maryville, TN 37801.
