Hoyt Bowerman, age 80, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020.  Hoyt was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gladys Bowerman, and brother, Richard Bowerman.  Hoyt leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Donna of Friendsville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Renee; grandson, Cody Bowerman all of Cookeville.  He leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well.

Hoyt loved to hunt and his nephew, Jeff Roberson, and he shared many hunts together in West Tennessee.  His brother-in-law, Jimmy Roberson was his fishing buddy.  Hoyt cherished life, every day he had something planned.  He loved working at the church with his maintenance group on Tuesdays.  They worked hard but had a lot of fun.  If you did not know Hoyt, you missed knowing a wonderful man.  If anyone had a need, he was knocking on that door.  Hoyt served as a Deacon for many years and was presently serving at Vonore Baptist Church.  He was a man of his word.  He worked at ALCOA Aluminum Company for 37 years before retiring.  He loved his family and family was always first.  He was so proud to be a husband, Dad, Granddad, and Uncle.

Hoyt in later years had several health problems but would bounce back so quickly.  This virus got him and would not let go.  This is one he could not do anything about.  It was terrible.

Hoyt received Christ as his savior at 16 years of age.  He relied on God for direction and strength in life when at times he did not know what to do.  He always had that friend by his side to pray to.

Hoyt had II Timothy 4:7 put on his tombstone only 3 weeks before, maybe knowing his time was near. II Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Hoyt will surely be missed, but we know he is with no pain, no virus, and a place to rest with his Lord, and will live forever.

A private family service was held for Mr. Bowerman, and arrangements were with Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
