George Douglas
Fowler
May 19, 1943 — Jan 8, 2025
Maryville
George Douglas Fowler, age 81, passed away on January 8, 2025 with his son David by his side. George had spent the last few years living at the Neighborhood in Tellico Village, cared for by his son and daughter in law as they helped him navigate life with dementia.
George was the son of George Read Fowler and Virginia Margaret Fowler. He had 7 brothers and sisters. George is survived by his Son, David Fowler and his wife Candee Fowler; Two cherished Granddaughters, Teagan and Catherine Fowler; daughter, Kara Lawson. He was also very close and will be greatly missed by his brother, Brian Fowler, and his wife Nancy.
George was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and was a paratrooper as part of the Special Forces. After he left the Army, he began his career in the boating industry. He had built wooden ski boats as a child with his father, so it was natural for him to continue to innovate and create. He ultimately ended up starting Supra Boats and was known as the "Father of the Family Ski Boat". He pulled many World Championship Ski tournaments around the world and was involved with numerous boat companies over the years. He retired in Missouri and enjoyed farming and spending time with his animals.
George loved life, was a true entrepreneur, was so talented and innovative, and had so many friends that reached around the world. George will be so very missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this year when the weather is warm. The family will share details when plans are finalized. They look forward to gathering with friends and family to share stories and memories by the lake, where George spent so much of his time.
