Evelyn Joan Pendley of Alcoa, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Known affectionately as Joan, she was a woman of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength, whose presence touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Joan was born in Pennsylvania, where her early years helped shape the compassionate and thoughtful person she would become. She later made her home in Alcoa, Tennessee, where she spent the majority of her life building meaningful relationships and creating lasting memories with family, friends, and her community.

A dedicated educator, Joan devoted several years of her life to teaching, and she was deeply admired by her students and colleagues alike. Her patience, encouragement, and genuine care for others made a lasting impression in the classroom and beyond. Even after her retirement, the impact she had on young lives remained a cherished part of her legacy.

Above all else, Joan treasured her family. She shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her beloved husband, Frank Clifton Pendley, with whom she spent 52 wonderful years. Together, they built a life centered on love, commitment, and shared joy. After retiring, Joan embraced the opportunity to spend more time with Frank and her loved ones, creating treasured moments that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Joan was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Frank Clifton Pendley; her mother, Mildred C. Hart; her brother, Gary Curtis Hart; and her sister-in-law, Mary Alice Hart. While her passing leaves a profound void, her memory continues to shine brightly through those who loved her.

She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, Vandy Lynn Wilkins and Emily Hart Bishop, and her brother-in-law, Rochie Pendley, along with extended family members and dear friends who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.

A graveside service was held at Grandview Cemetery, where family and friends gathered to honor Joan's life, share memories, and say their final goodbyes. Though she has departed this world, her gentle spirit, loving heart, and the difference she made in the lives of others will never be forgotten
