Emma Jean Martin, age 87, of North Judson IN formerly of Chicago IL and a native of Marville TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Emma Jean was born in Maryville, TN on July 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Jesse B & Sarah (nee Holder) Howard. Emma loved her family, friends and her church. Emma married the love of her life Arthur Lee Martin on November 7th, 1953, side by side until his passing on October 4, 2007. Emma worked at South Chicago hospital in the pediatric ward until her retirement.
On this day she has joined her loving husband Arthur, her family, and our lord for eternity. Survivors include her four sons, Jerry, Winston, Joesph, and Terry Martin; grandchildren, Wendy (Jim) Kennedy, Ashley Martin, Jerry Martin Jr., Winston (Regine Son) MartinJr., Amy Martin; great grandchildren, Brandon Kennedy, Selena, Khyler, Bryce Martin, AnnaBella and Winston Martin III; sister, Ilene Blair, brother-in-law, Wayne Cable; sister-in-law, Carrolyn Martin; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her loving husband Arthur, Emma Jean was preceded in death by her brothers, J.R. (Jean) Howard, Floyd (Rebecca) Howard; sisters, Pauline (Robert) Clark, Cora Lee (John) Roberson, Eulace Cal (RE) Chambers, Mary (Howard) Murphy, June (Roy) Wright, and Lucille (Homer) Caughron; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Reba Martin; brother in-law Don Martin; and sister in-law, Shirly Cable.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Providence Baptist Primitive Church, Dementia Association, or Focus on the Family. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 22, 2023, at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church, the interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Friday at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church. Arrangements are with Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
