Tipton, Douglas M. age 80 of Townsend, died on October 27, 2023. Douglas was a graduate of Townsend High School, was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from ALCOA with 31 years of service. Douglas never met a stranger. He and his wife Lynn were married in 1989 and would have celebrated their 34th anniversary on November 11 of this year. In addition to his wife Lynn he is survived by sons Doug and Darius (Evon) Tipton; sisters Delite (James) and Diane (Buck); brothers Delmore (Betty Jean) and Delon (Helen); mother-in-law Wilma Myers; sister-in-law Jan Lee and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Hazel Tipton; brothers Dewell and Durant Tipton and father-in-law Mark E. Ledbetter.  Graveside services will be held Monday October 30 at Tuckaleechee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery (Coker Hill) with the Rev J.B. Huskey officiating. Family and friends may call at their convenience from 10 AM until noon on Monday at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel and we will then reconvene at Coker Hill for the 2:00 PM graveside service.
