Doris Russell passed away at University of Tennessee Medical Center Comfort Care Unit after a very short illness with her daughter by her side holding her hand at 2:30 AM on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Doris was born to Silas and Ira Skidmore on March 11, 1945, in Harlan, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Ira Skidmore; brother, Curt Skidmore; nephew, Dallas Skidmore; brother-in-law, Ronald "Ron" Campbell; sister-in-law, Martha Skidmore; and son-in-law, Corey Cooper.

Doris is survived by her husband of 56 years, Samuel "Sam" Russell; daughter, Anna Merriman and husband, Todd; son, Stanley Russell; sister, Faye Campbell; brother, James David "JD" Skidmore and wife, Pam; niece, Missy Campbell-Garland and husband, Robert; nephews, Kevin Campbell and wife, Wendy, and Ray Skidmore and wife, Libby; grandchildren, Amber Downey and husband, Brian; Lisa Hobbs and husband, Leonard "Len", and Katie Cooper and boyfriend, Brandon Goodman; great-grandchildren, Micah, Madison, Brooklyn, Sydney, Lauren, Lolabell, Leonard Joseph "LJ", Lincoln, and Willow; and great-great-grandchild, Charlotte.

Doris attended Beauty School in 1963-1964. She was introduced to the love of her life, Samuel Neil Russell in 1968, and on November 1, 1970, Doris and Sam married after his return on October 20, 1970, from Vietnam.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, May 29, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel.
