Obituary

Dixie Lynn Luttrell Harris, age 94, of Maryville born poor, but rich in Godly heritage, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 13, 2024.

Dixie served God from an early age, until her last breath at 94.  Dixie lived her whole life with her eyes fixed on her Savior while bound for her Heavenly home.  She lived a life of a virtuous woman in a way as to the Kingdom of God. Her life introduced others to Jesus as she went about her daily activities.  Dixie's influences as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend may go unnoticed by the world, but is celebrated in Heaven.  We know as she entered the presence of God Dixie heard these words, "Well done my good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the Joy of the Lord" (Matthew 25:23)

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dixie loved serving as a Sunday School Teacher, GA's Teacher, and in the WMU.  She had a special place in her heart for the people of Brazil and enjoyed many mission trips there.  She dedicated countless hours to the Telephone Pioneers and loved volunteering with them at Townsend Elementary School.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dixie.  She loved gardening, and growing food for her family.  She had a meticulous flower bed. She loved to cook delicious meals for her family, and playing the piano and painting.  She cherished reading her bible and devotion each night in the recliner with Louie.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years of wedded bliss, Louie Harris; daughter, Teresa Boring; son-in-law, Ernie Boring; grandson, Barry Moore; granddaughter, Sarah Moore; parents, Leonard and Viola Bailey Luttrell; and sisters, Nova Lee and Barbara Shipley.

She is survived by her children, Ron Harris, Chris Harris, Kelly (David) White; grandchildren, Cara (Jordan) McAmis, Britt (Abby) Harris, Chandler White, Caitlin (Gabe) Dando, Isaac (Anne) Boring, Amber (Justin) Wills, and Erin (Brandon) McFadden; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for all the love and care to Mrs. Dixie while at Life Care Center of Blount County.
