Obituary

Dessie Marie McLemore

(September 7, 1939- October 23,2026)

Dessie Marie McLemore 87, of Maryville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 23,2026. Marie was the most loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her life was a beautiful reflection of Christ. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church since 1966, teaching Sunday school, leading the GA’s and Acteens along with being the church treasurer for 31 years. In addition to singing in church with family and friends for most of her life, she sang the Lord’s praises for 25+ years along with her husband in Glory Road Quartet. Waiting for her at the river are her husband of 52 years, Jimmy E. McLemore, parents, Delmor and Thelma Word, brother: Leon Word, Sisters: Mary Ruth Bradam, and Linda Tipton. Left to mourn her here on earth are her daughters: Lynnette (Charlie) Farley, Lisa Gregory, Selena (Nick) Conkle, grandchildren: Chad (Mai-Linh) Goins, Jesse (Nick) Keen, Joe (Caroline) Gregory, Braydon Sargent, great grandchildren: Kadie Buchanan, Dominic Goins, Ty Goins, Sister, Donna (Steve) Banton, several nieces and nephews along with too many special friends to count. A special thank you to Prisma Health and their Palliative Care team for the excellent care given to Marie in her final days. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a funeral service at 7 PM at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. James Adkins and Rev. Jerry Vittetoe officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday, October 29,2026 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery at 11 AM. Arrangements made by Miller Funeral Home 915 W. Broadway Maryville, TN 37801.
