David Ellis Hammontree passed away suddenly at home on April 13, 2024.  David was an employee of the University of Tennessee for 35 years and spent his retirement painting, growing his garden, and tending his chickens. David is preceded in death by his adoring wife of 45 years, Teresa Dixon Hammontree, and his parents Clarence Hammontree and Linda Hammontree Thomas Greene.

David is survived by his children Kelly (Jordan) Leslie, Mitchell Hammontree, and Julie (Jeremy) Proctor; his 4 grandchildren, Kairi, Danica, Henry, and Hudson; and his sisters Angela (Billy) Barth, Lisa (Michael) Jackson.

An avid craftsman, David dabbled in his shop constantly when his children were young.  If you knew David for any time, he would gift you with one of his wood-scrolled Christmas ornaments.  Something that he took joy in completing every year.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday April 20th 2024. at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Delbert Raines officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
