David George Akers passed away January 21, 2024 in his home. David was a faithful follower and servant of Jesus Christ. He was also a devoted husband and loving father. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He joyously served the church in many capacities but was best known for his trumpet playing abilities known as Silver Horn Ministries. He played beautifully, and anyone who ever heard him was blessed.

David was preceded in death by wife of 35 years, Shirley Akers. He is survived by daughter Christa Akers Linginfelter (Scott) of Maryville, TN, and grandkids, Elijah (Alyssa), Lydia, and Caleb (Maddi) all of Maryville, TN.

Services will be in Maryville Thursday January 25, 2024 at Miller Funeral Home. Receiving friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Service will be at 7:00 PM Rev. Will Linginfelter officiating. Entombment will be in Abingdon, VA on Saturday January 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the KnollKreg mausoleum. Service will be officiated by Dr Steve Linginfelter.
