Charles Mayford Lane, age 81, of Maryville passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 15, 2022.  Mayford proudly served in the US Army Guard for 36 years in the How/Battery 1 ^st /278 ACR and retired from McGhee Tyson Airport Field Maintenance after 24 years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Arbutus "Beauty" Lane; son, Stacy Mark Lane; parents, Alferd and Flora Lane; brothers, JT Lane and Olin Lane.  He is survived by his children, Steve Lane of Madisonville and girlfriend, Lachelle, Scott and Michelle Lane of Madisonville, Shawn and Erin Lane of Walland; grandchildren, Cody, Hunter, Harper, and Rylen; great-grandchildren, Karli, Wyett, Reese, Emory, Radie, Charlotte, and Kylie; dear friend, Susie Lewis of Maryville; brother Ray and Dorothy Lane of Maryville.  Mayford never met a stranger and enjoyed coffee and fellowship at the corner and loved his family and close friends.  Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, Rev. John Coleman and Rev. Greg Long officiating, interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
