Akins, Bobby died September 12, 2022.  Bobby was born on July 2, 1928 in Tellico Plains, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Norma Jean Carpenter and by his parents Mary and George Akins, his brothers Troy, Roy, and Joe Akins and by his sisters Effie Tallent and Cora Isbell. Bobby is survived by his sisters Lettie Baker and Eva Atkins;  Daughters Brenda (Floyd) Oliver, Kathleen Akins, and Cynthia (Jerry) Hearon; son Marvin Akins; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was retired from the State Highway Department with 44 years of service. He was a member of Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church and a 60 year member of the Mountain View Masonic Lodge.  Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday September 15 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel with the Rev. Steve Whitehead officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM  Thursday at Miller Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Happy Valley Baptist Church on Friday morning for an 11:00 AM graveside service. The family requests donations to Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
