Blanche Boone was born on August 25th, 1920, in Hiawassee County, North Carolina to Lydia Louella Deaver Adams and John Arthur Adams. She was the seventh child of a family of ten. She was unable to finish school, When she was twenty-one, Blanche, went up north to work at Goodyear in Akron, Ohio to help make airplanes for World War 2. She was a Rosie the Riveter. In fact, it was Blanche who put the rivets in the Enola Gay, before our country dropped the Atomic Bomb. While she worked there, she met her husband, Leonard Boone. After the war was over, they were married in 1946. Ten years later, they adopted a baby and named her Peggy. Blanche didn't work any more, until the two of them opened a restaurant they bought. I finished high school, and in 1977, she got her GED. She was managing a retail store, and did so, until we came down to Maryville, Tennessee in 1990. After we got to Tennessee, she survived health scares; Cancer, Heart Attack and several falls. She went to the Foothills Transitional Care Center, where she lived since 2022. Blanche Boone passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. She was 106. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Boone, her parents, John Arthur and Lydia Louella Adams, and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy and nieces and nephews. Graveside services are being held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Forest Hill Baptist Church, with Ron Matthews officiating.
