Betty Akins, age 89, of Lenoir City, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter, Geneva by her side Monday, November 7, 2022. She was born on July 21, 1933, and loved singing and dedicated her heart to God as a child.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ross Akins; children, Ricky and Kathy Jo Akins Connaster; grandson, Michael Gideon; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Hill, Rachael and James Moore; brothers, JB, Ray, Jimmy, and Bobby Kelley; and parents, Joe and Jenny Kelley.
Survived by her children, Judy (David) Turner, Johnnie (Gilbert) Price, Geneva (James) Webb, Mike (Lisa) Akins, Teresa (Randall) Bledsoe, Penny (Ernie) Warwick, Linda (Dave) Chesnutt, Henry (Trish) Akins, Doug (Crystal) Akins, Tim (Marcie) Akins, Dean (Crystal) Akins, and Mark (Tammy) Akins; 156 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 91 nieces and nephews; and siblings, Edith Richardson and Gene Kelley. A very special thank you to Blount Memorial Hospice and Richard and Tina Teffeteller.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2022 at Crossroads Tabernacle, 5728 Old Niles Ferry Rd Greenback, TN 37742, Rev. Gertrude Osborne officiating and special singer Snookie Woods, interment will follow in the church cemetery, pallbearers, Rick and Doug Akins, Clifton and Chris Moore, Aaron Justice, and Ernie Warwick. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday at Crossroads Tabernacle. Arrangements are with Miller Funeral Home, Maryville
