Barney Ralph Lowe, beloved husband of Mary Sue, joined his Heavenly Father on November 16, 2023.

Barney was born March 4, 1935 to the late William and Ida Lowe.  After graduating from Maryville High School, Barney married Mary Sue Mitchell, his high school sweetheart, and their 69 year journey together officially began.  Barney joined the United States Air Force and together they travelled to several countries during his 20 years in service.  He retired in 1975 with the rank of Master Sergeant.  Following their return to Maryville, Barney worked for Union Carbide (now Y-12 National Security Complex) in Oak Ridge and retired in 1994. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.  He loved going to Maryville High School football games and watching the Vols play. He also enjoyed doing yard work and house projects with his son, Darren. Barney was always ready and willing to help anyone in any way he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Lowe; brother, Robert Lowe; sisters, Bessie Kate Todd and Levenia Faye Woods. In addition to his wife, Mary Sue, Barney is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dave Marks; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Sandy Lowe; grandchildren, Chad (Xiu) Marks, Kevin (Hope) Lowe, Abby Marks; his sisters, Viola Frazier and Sandra (Denis) Ledbetter; brothers, Jack (Shirley) Lowe and Richard Lowe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barney was a wonderful and kind man who will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family wishes to especially thank the staff of the Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans' Home for their exceptionally loving and tender care. The family will meet for a private service.
