Donald James Baker, of Maryville, passed away 11:59 PM Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a great man of faith and peace. Don spent his entire life loving and helping people. He was a great man of wisdom. He could always make you laugh with his wonderful humor. He was a devoted husband with unparalleled love for his wife and children. His last words spoken were “I love you” to his wife Betty. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company, was a veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Mountain View Masonic Lodge #519. He was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy James Baker; parents, Alvin and Minnie McDonald Baker; brother, Alvin Baker; sisters, Mildred Simerly, Nora Farr, Gladys Baker, and Maybelle Evans. He is survived by his wife, Betty Baker; children, Donnie and Joy Baker and Stanley and Sheila Baker; grandchildren, Josiah Baker, Stanley Baker, Jr., Sammy Baker, Victoria Baker, Marquiel Baker and wife Rachel, Colton Baker & Jennifer Chin, Spencer “Tank” Baker, Brittany Sutton, Kullen Sutton, Samantha Baker, and Jessica Baker; great-grandchildren, Caden Baker, Karleigh Baker, and Asia Baker; sister, Wilma Jean Graves; very special fishing buddy, Benny McLemore; extended family, Brian and Karen McClanahan, Erica McClanahan, Allison McClanahan, and Whitney McClanahan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends all dear to his heart. Funeral service will be held 7:30 PM Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Dr. Johnny Sweet and Rev. Ronald Reagan officiating. Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery for the interment.
